Publishers of Journal Watch and the New England Journal of Medicine Unveil New, Free Online Daily News Update
Physician's First Watch Delivers the Last 24 Hours of Medical News in the First Three Minutes of a Physician's Day
Waltham, Mass. July 13, 2006 The Publishers of the New England of Journal of Medicine and Journal Watch today introduced Physician's First Watch, a free daily e-mail update on the medical news that matters most to practicing physicians and their patients.
Designed to provide a highly concise synopsis of the last 24 hours of important medical news within the first three minutes of a physician's day, Physician's First Watch is e-mailed by 7:30 a.m. ET each weekday morning and features three to five clinically focused briefs.
Understanding the need for brevity, timeliness, and relevance, a team of ten physician board members monitors developments from medical journals, government agencies, scientific conferences and major media outlets to produce the daily update on the news the medical community needs to know.
"In this electronic information age, medical news travels at lightening speed. At times, patients have knowledge of new studies and reports before their physicians," said David Fairchild, MD, Chief, Division of General Medicine, Tufts-New England Medical Center; Associate Professor of Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine; and Editor-in-Chief of Physician's First Watch. "We developed Physician’s First Watch to provide timely news that matters to the medical community. Our editors are highly respected clinicians, who understand both the science and the clinical implications behind medical news. They write with an efficiency and clarity that keeps physicians informed and saves them time."
Physician's First Watch is a service of Journal Watch and coincides with the launch of a redesigned and enhanced Journal Watch Online (www.jwatch.org).
